![]() So, when all was revealed in the final episode, you were left afterwards noticing the loose ends and wondering about the perpetrator’s seeming omniscience and ability to be in several places at any one time. ![]() Perhaps too ambitious, though: there was a sense in later weeks of new leads and new suspects being introduced just so that the story could be spun out over its allotted time span. The format was extraordinarily ambitious – to follow the investigation of a murder over 20 days, each day allocated a one-hour episode, two episodes screened each week. Although the Danish crime serial sagged a bit towards the end, it was a remarkable series – both gripping and, especially in the early episodes, exploring its characters’ lives and relationships in an almost Bergman-like manner. As Sam Wollaston remarks in today’s Guardian TV review, the end of The Killing will leave a gaping void in Saturday evenings. ![]()
